Kent Paul created Kinetic Focal Point Training in 1995.  His programs have been featured in 21 countries around the world, and he has appeared on many nationally syndicated television shows.  He has worked with professional athletes, the Miss USA pagents, well-respected business men and women, owned successful gyms, been featured on major television stations as the fitness expert, and once upon a time was groomed by Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler, to be the next big thing in bodybuilding.  What you are about to read might surprise you.

I was born and raised in Wheatridge, Colorado to a conservative spiritual family.  (Okay, I’m a preacher’s son.)  My parents, Terry and Linda have been married for 54 years. I myself have never been married.  I have an older brother, Kevin, and an older sister Kim.

I released a lot of my childhood anxiety through sports.  I received college scholarships in both football and baseball my senior year in high school. I chose baseball at the University of Northern Colorado which was ranked 3rd in the nation for Kinesiology. Weight training for baseball became an extreme passion for me, so much so, I decided to get involved in competitive bodybuilding in 1991 at the Mr. Northern Colorado Championships.  I was pleasantly surprised to take second place in the heavy weight class, which was outstanding for my very first competition. (Let me add that I was teased as a child for having a scrawny, “bird chest.”  My parents are small people.  I was not built this way to be a heavy weight bodybuilder.)

Two years later, I spent a summer in Venice, California which is also known as “Muscle Beach”. That summer changed my life forever. The owner of Venice Beach Gold’s Gym, Ed Connors, approached me and offered me a full sponsorship to pursue a bodybuilding career. Ed introduced me to the best trainers and nutritional gurus in the world. The secrets to transforming the body and the knowledge to maximize human potential became the keys to my success, not only in bodybuilding, but also in business.

I graduated from college in 1995 with a B.A. in Kinesiology and Nutrition and started my own fitness training business. In 1998 I became Mr. Colorado.  This opened up many doors and took me to national levels in bodybuilding. In 2000, I became world-ranked and held that ranking until 2002 when I retired from the sport of bodybuilding never to go back.

The Crash

I remember it like it was yesterday.  October 21, 2005 (my birthday).  I was involved in a car accident that left me with a broken neck. This event led me to one my darkest hours. For an entire year I did not leave my home in Parker, Colorado.

I was in excruciating pain and suffered from extreme anxiety and panic attacks.

I was prescribed medication for anxiety and wound up developing an addiction to the medication and eventually to alcohol. In a short amount of time, I began taking 10X the prescribed dosage of the medication and drinking almost a gallon of vodka per day. My world became very small and dark to the point that I wanted my life to end. I was totally out of control and my anxiety was at an all time high.  On July 1, 2006, I wrote a suicide note with the full intention and action to end my life.

God had other plans for me.

A miraculous intervention took place in the middle of Kansas with the local police, highway state patrol and my parents.  On July 9, 2006 I made a new discovery of God (a kind and loving God) and a new change in my perspective of myself and the world around me. I made a vow to change my ways and to focus on helping others to break out of the personal bondage of addiction and life tragedy.  Since that day, I have changed my entire life and fitness transformation business, creating systems that do not just focus on the outward appearance, but also the growth of the mind and spirit. I have helped thousands of people transform their lives all around the world, thanks to the love and healing of God.

Eleven Years Sober

Since that change in my life, God has blessed me in tremendous ways. I became the Official Fitness Consultant and Judge for Donald Trump’s Miss USA pageants, Official Fitness Consultant for Miss America pageants, Fitness Columnist for Douglas County News Press and Official Fitness Instructor for HARDKORE Inc. (seen at Invesco Field home of the Denver Broncos). I founded and hosted Turbo Fit Radio show, seen on FOX news, CBS news, NBC news, WEB MD. I was the Keynote Speaker at the American Diabetes Association Expo; Official Fitness Coach on 106.7 FM KBPI fit contest, and Official Health and Fitness Columnist for Colorado Healthy Living magazine.

I was most recently featured on the TLC television network show “Crown Chasers” as the Official Fitness Trainer and Expert. I have published over 35 articles on life transformation and am the bestselling author of the popular book, Power from Pain:  The Rise and Fall of Mr. Colorado.

In 2015, I moved to Boca Raton, Florida where I founded and hosted “My Recovery Radio”, a live, prime-time, Monday to Friday evening radio show. This show, which aired on AM 850 WFTL, grew to reach audiences in 21 countries. My Recovery Radio was live streamed on myrecoveryradio.com and on FB Live nightly. I was privileged to interview famous professional athletes, international fashion models and recovery speakers from all around the world. I also pursued and obtained the internationally recognized International Master Coach (IMAC) certification. My greatest passion is to help people in the world who have been broken and seek healing through the grace of God and the tools of recovery.

I currently reside in Palm Beach, Florida
and consult fulltime as a mastermind coach with clients all around the world.

My life has been greatly blessed and I strive daily to use those blessings to bless others.
